PEP has suspended program activities in Uganda due to the Ugandan government’s stance on human rights.
The International Journal of Criminology and Justice ranks the Uganda Prisons Service as the #1 ranked prison system in Africa and the #7 ranked prison system in the world in the context of providing rehabilitative programs. PEP-Uganda has assisted in the transformation of this system and is the largest volunteer-based prison education project of its kind in Africa.
